Rosamund Conroy, Executive Director
Rosamund is an experienced leader in the non-profit sector and comes to Summer Ink from a large community boating organization. A Massachusetts native, Rosamund lived abroad for thirteen years and has been lucky enough to combine her lifelong love of writing with many exciting adventures. During her time in academia and beyond, she has  mentored and worked with young people from many different backgrounds and she is excited to be able to build on this experience by leading Summer Ink. Rosamund has a BA from the University of Limerick, Ireland, an MPhil from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Environmental Sociology from the University of Cambridge, UK.

Debbie Reck, Camp Director
Debbie was a middle school and high school teacher for many years while developing The Writers’ Express (WEX) curriculum, which has served as the foundation for Summer Ink. As the first director of The WEX Summer Program (the predecessor to Summer Ink), she worked with campers and staff to develop the physical, artistic, and writing activities that energize Summer Ink’s campers today. After leading the effort to integrate this vision into an English curriculum for the entire country at Amplify Learning, Debbie returns to Summer Ink this year to learn more about capturing the voices of middle and high school students.

Deb Schmill, Program Coordinator
Debbie has a B.S. in Accounting, but spent most of her professional career as a computer programmer. For the last decade, she has focused on volunteer work in the areas of environmental awareness and social justice. Debbie is the founder of the Needham Community Farm (NCF), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing healthy produce for food insecure households, and hands-on educational opportunities for the community. Her years with NCF have given her a deep appreciation for the need to ensure all children have opportunities to learn, grow and feel good about themselves.

Instructors are hired for their energy, warmth, and teaching talents. Our Senior Counselors are certified teachers or college students, many of whom have been campers or instructors with us in the past. Our Junior Counselors are high school or college students with demonstrated writing ability and the energy and enthusiasm to motivate campers. The teacher-to-student ratio at Summer Ink is 4:1 so campers get the attention they need from caring staff members who help them improve their writing skills while having fun.
