An adventure worth writing about

Simmons Camp: Grades 5–8

WRITING IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO SIT AROUND. In the Simmons Camp, we dive into new activities, notebooks in hand. Sometimes the challenges are physical. Ever try rock-climbing in the middle of a forest? How about chasing down a squash ball? (Even better if you don’t know what a squash ball is!) Sometimes, we focus on mastering new skills. You never know: Your hidden talent could be acting or plate-spinning. Whatever the activity, the goal is the same. We improve our writing skills through the daily practice of responding to our adventures in journals and longer essays. The next time someone asks, “What did you do over summer vacation?” you can just hand them your published work in The Collection.

Who Should Register: Energetic and curious middle school students of all writing abilities entering grades 5, 6, 7, or 8 who are looking for an adventure worth writing about.
