2020 Fall Programming at Summer Ink

The Writers’ Nook: Fall Edition

Dear Families,

Summer Ink is pleased to announce that our popular summer option, The Writers’ Nook, will be offered again this fall. The Writers’ Nook: Fall Edition is a weekly, small-group online session led by Geena Pham, one of our experienced Senior Counselors. Geena, who taught all five weeks of Summer Ink’s 2020 online summer program, is also a licensed ELA teacher teaching at Easton Middle School.

During Writers’ Nook, Geena will confer with eager writers in grades 5th-8th, offering them assignments to develop and expand on or help them develop writing that they are working on independently. Like Summer Ink, the Writers’ Nook is based on the WEX method, whereby young writers are able to develop their unique voice by working on core writing skills such as focus, showing and readability. The Writers’ Nook program is for eager writers and it offers our students a chance to sharpen their skills, make new connections and receive more focused feedback on their writing.

The Writers’ Nook will be available first to the Summer Ink community on a pre-registration basis until Sunday, October 18. If you would like to pre-register for a spot, please click here to access the form.

General registration opens on Monday, October 19 via the Summer Ink website (www.summerink.org).

The Fine Print:

Dates: Writers’ Nook runs for five weeks on the following dates: Thursdays, October 29, November 5, 12, 19, and on Tuesday, November 24.

Available times: 4pm-5pm, 5:15pm-6:15pm, and 6:30pm-7:30pm, EST.

Cost: $125/five-week session. Financial aid may be available for qualified families.

Other details: This program is for students in grades 5th-8th. The minimum group size is four (4) students and the maximum is six (6) students. Classes will be delivered via Zoom and Google Docs.
