Notice about David Summergrad

 

Dear Summer Ink Community, 

 

It is with enormous sadness that we share the news that David Summergrad, one of our long-time board members, passed away on September 24, 2020. For over twenty-five years, David championed our mission of empowering young people to claim and share their unique voice through writing. He brought a tremendous energy and enthusiasm to our organization and he supported our work in so many important ways. David was also a tireless champion of equality and access for all, two passions that were well matched by his joy and enthusiasm for education. David was a teacher, professor, administrator, mentor, volunteer and role model. He leaves a tremendous legacy and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts go out to his wife, Mary Grace, and his two daughters, Anna and Lisa, during this difficult time.
